Kettlebell Studio Running School

Running School

If you join some running clubs or sign up with a coach, the instruction is usually built around a training programme: how fast to run, how far, how often, but not how to run.

According to the Sports Injury Bulletin, about 60 – 65% of all runners are injured every year. The theory is, the more you run, the higher your chance of injury.
Running technique may be what it takes to join the one-third of runners who make it through the year injury-free.  Like a golf swing, running technique has to be built around natural movement. Running technique can be critical, and it’s not just about maximising performance. The right biomechanics may be even more critical to avoiding injury than in other activities.

Lower your risk of injury and improve your running

1. Identify form issues you may be unaware of to radically improve your running form.
2. Learn the right drills for your physique so you can improve your running efficiency.
3. Run faster, longer or both with a better understanding of running biomechanics.
4. Learn to train in keeping with your ability and build better endurance.
5. Learn how to avoid overtraining and how to recover before your next running session.
6. Learn how to use heart rate training so that it is individualised to your recovery.

If you join in a yoga class, practice martial arts or take a swimming or tennis lesson, it’s almost all about technique, but most runners get very little instruction on how to run. We’ve all been running since we were toddlers, so why would we need a running lesson?

The most common mistakes, according to a number of different sources, are to strike your heels into the ground ahead of your centre of gravity, to lean backward when you run and to move your arms across your body.
A 60 minute video-recorded session, with small groups of up to ten people.
